May is Kingdom Advancement Month

By Wes Griffin

An Invitation to Join the Mission of the Global Methodist Church

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the Gospel.” — Mark 1:15

This May, the Global Methodist Church invites you to join us in a month-long focus on advancing the mission of Christ around the world. As we mark the anniversary of our denomination’s founding, we are recommitting ourselves to the work of making disciples and spreading scriptural holiness.

The Commission on Kingdom Advancement

Established by the 2024 General Conference, the Kingdom Advancement Commission exists to support churches and conferences as they engage in:

  • Evangelism
  • Church multiplication
  • Mission mobilization
  • Outreach to unreached people groups
  • Disaster response

This work aligns with our calling to be a missional movement committed to proclaiming the Gospel and embodying Christ’s love in every corner of the world.

Five Key Priorities

Throughout the month, we will highlight five focus areas where Kingdom advancement is already underway:

  • Baptisms — Celebrating lives transformed by the Gospel.
  • New Churches — Planting new congregations to reach new communities.
  • Missions Mobilization — Empowering churches to live out Acts 1:8.
  • Unreached People Groups — Reaching those who have never heard the name of Jesus.
  • Disaster Response — Offering help and hope to those in crisis.

How You Can Participate

Churches and individuals can engage in Kingdom Advancement Month in several meaningful ways:

  1. Pray
Dedicate time each week to pray specifically for one of the five focus areas.
  2. Share
Tell your story. Has your church launched a new outreach? Celebrated baptisms? Participated in relief efforts? Share it with us to encourage others.
  3. Teach
Focus your sermons, classes, or newsletters on one of the five areas each week to deepen understanding and inspire action.
  4. Support
Consider giving to global mission efforts or supporting ministries working with unreached people groups.
  5. Celebrate May 1
Commemorate the birth of the Global Methodist Church by focusing your worship service on Kingdom mission and inviting your congregation to respond.

A Message from Bishop Mark Webb

“The GMC was birthed through a unified, global commitment to spread the Gospel. Local churches and annual conferences are at the center of our worldwide ministry. The Kingdom Advancement Commission exists to help us discover, develop, and deploy the gifts of all our members around the world so the Great Commission will be achieved.”

Moving Forward Together

The words of Jesus are just as relevant today: “The Kingdom of God is at hand.” As a global movement now spanning thousands of congregations and many nations, the Global Methodist Church is committed to proclaiming that message with clarity, compassion, and courage.

Let us move forward together—faithfully, boldly, and prayerfully.

Will you join us in advancing the Kingdom this May?

Wes Griffin is the Chair of the Kingdom Advancement Commission (officially the Evangelism, Church Multiplication, Missional Mobilization and Disaster Response Commission).
